Vanilla Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 Tbs cornstarch
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 2 cups half and half
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Mix cornstarch, sugar, and salt in top of double boiler. Whisk in egg yolk. Gradually stir in cream. Cook, stirring constantly over simmering water until sauce thickens and coats spoon, about 5 minutes. Immediately transfer sauce to small bowl, stir in vanilla. Cover surface of sauce with plastic. Refrigerate until well-chilled.
Serve over fruit soup.
