Ingredients
- 1 c. cake flour
- 1 1/2 c. powder sugar
- 12 egg whites
- 1 1/2 tsp cream of tarter
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 c. granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
Step 1
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Stir flour and sugar together. Set aside.
2. In KA beat egg whites, cream of tarter and salt until foamy.
3. Add sugar, 2 T. at a time, beating on high speed until meringue holds stiff peaks.
4. Gently fold in vanilla. Sprinkle flour-sugar mixture, ¼ c. at a time, over meringue folding in gently just until flour sugar mixture disappears.
5. Push batter into 10x14 in. tube pan. Gently cut through batter with a metal spatula.
6. Bake 30-35 minutes or until top springs back when lightly touched with a finger.
7. Invert tube pan; let hang until cake is completely cooled.
