Ingredients
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 3/4 cup evaporated milk
- 1 tsp. light corn syrup
- 2 square (1oz) unsweetened chocolate
- 2 tbs. butter or margarine
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 cups chopped walnuts or pecan
Preparation
Step 1
Butter the sides of a heavy 2 quart saucepan. Combine sugar, salt, milk, corn syrup, and chocolate in pan. Cook and stir over medium heat until chocolate melts and sugar dissolves. Cook to soft ball stage (236 degree) without stirring. Remove from heat and add butter without stirring. Cool to lukewarm (110 degrees). Stir in vanilla.
Pour mix into bowl and attache a flat beater to the mixer. Turn to Speed 2 and mix about 8 minutes, or until fudge stiffens and loses its gloss. Turn mixer to low speed and add nuts, mixing until blended. Spread into a buttered 9x9x2 inch pan. When firm cut into 1 inch pieces
