Basting Sauce for Ribs

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1-1/2 T. Dry Spices for Ribs
  • 2 cups red wine vinegar
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. hot sauce
  • 1 bay leaf

Preparation

Step 1

Combine all ingredients; cover and let stand 8 hrs. (does not taste pleasant when sampled by itself)

For ribs: rub dry spices all over; cover and chill 3 hrs.
For gas grill - light 1 side only. Place ribs on unlit side and grill, covered, 2 hrs., basting with basting sauce every 30 min., turning occasionally.

Brush ribs with Barbecue sauce the last 30 min.
