"Spicy" Grilled Dream Burgers

Spicy Grilled Dream Burgers 1 Picture

Ingredients

  • The Sauce:
  • 2 teaspoons Tabasco sauce or 2 teaspoons hot sauce (optional -- leave this out if your family doesn't like hot n spicy burgers and increase the Worcestershire sauce to 3 teaspoons)
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 2 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • The Burgers:
  • 2 lbs lean ground beef
  • 8 ounces (1 cup) cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 lb bacon, cooked crisp and chopped into small pieces
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1/3 cup onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup quick oats
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 dash salt and pepper

Step 1

Preheat grill to medium.



Combine ketchup, dark brown sugar, honey, molasses, dry mustard, ginger, Worrcestershire sauce, Tabasco if you're using this optional ingredient, and the salt and pepper to a saucepan. Bring to a boil and then set sauce aside; reserve 1 cup of sauce to baste the burgers with later.



In a bowl, mix the egg, oats, onion, garlic powder, cooked bacon, cheddar cheese and ground beef, and 1/2 cup or a bit more of the reserved sauce, to moisten the meat. Make eight hamburger patties from this mixture.



Grill until cooked to your liking. During the last 5 minutes of cooking, baste burgers with the remaining sauce.



Serve with your favorite toppings, such as lettuce, tomato, dill pickle, or sliced avacado.
