Ingredients
- 1/2 CUP SHORTENING
- 1 CUP GRANULATED SUGAR
- 2 LARGE EGGS
- 1 CUP PEELED AND FINELY CHOPPED GRANNY SMITH APPLE
- 1 CUP MASHED BANANAS (ABOUT 2 RIPE BANANAS)
- 1 1/2 CUPS ALL-PURPOSE FLOUR
- 1 TEASPOON BAKING SODA
- 1/2 TEASPOON SALT
- PEANUT BUTTER FOR SERVING (OPTIONAL)

Step 1
CREAM SHORTENING; GRADUALLY ADD SUGAR, BEATING
WELL. ADD EGGS, ONE AT A TIME, BEATING WELL AFTER
EACH ADDITION. STIR IN APPLE AND MASHED BANANAS .
• :. IN ANOTHER BOWL, COMBINE FLOUR, BAKING SODA, AND
SALT. ADD DRY INGREDIENTS TO THE CREAMED MIXTURE,
STIRRING JUST UNTIL BLENDED .
• :. SPOON BATTER INTO A GREASED AND FLOURED 9-X-5-X 3-
INCH LOAF PAN. BAKE AT 350°F FOR 1 HOUR OR UNTIL A
WOODEN PICK INSERTED IN THE CENTER COMES OUT
CLEAN. COOL IN PAN 10 MINUTES; REMOVE FROM PAN, AND
COOL COMPLETELY ON A WIRE RACK. SLICE AND SERVE
WITH PEANUT BUTTER, IF DESIRED.
