CREAM SHORTENING; GRADUALLY ADD SUGAR, BEATING WELL. ADD EGGS, ONE AT A TIME, BEATING WELL AFTER EACH ADDITION. STIR IN APPLE AND MASHED BANANAS . • :. IN ANOTHER BOWL, COMBINE FLOUR, BAKING SODA, AND SALT. ADD DRY INGREDIENTS TO THE CREAMED MIXTURE, STIRRING JUST UNTIL BLENDED . • :. SPOON BATTER INTO A GREASED AND FLOURED 9-X-5-X 3- INCH LOAF PAN. BAKE AT 350°F FOR 1 HOUR OR UNTIL A WOODEN PICK INSERTED IN THE CENTER COMES OUT CLEAN. COOL IN PAN 10 MINUTES; REMOVE FROM PAN, AND COOL COMPLETELY ON A WIRE RACK. SLICE AND SERVE WITH PEANUT BUTTER, IF DESIRED.
