Bourbon Butter Sauce

This sauce is sinful - so rich and wonderful! Absolutely great on cakes and ice cream.

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons bourbon
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly-grated nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 egg, beaten
Preparation
Step 1
In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, combine butter, sugar, bourbon, nutmeg, and water; stirring occasionally until bubbly around the edges. Remove from heat.
Off the heat, blend beaten egg into hot butter mixture.
Return to heat; bring to a boil over medium-low heat, stirring constantly.
Cook 1 to 2 minutes or until thickened. Remove from heat and serve.
