Arielle's Orange Rolls

Ingredients

  • ROLLS:
  • 1 packages active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 4 1/2-5 cups flour

  • ICING:
  • 3 Tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 Tablespoon orange zest
  • 2 Tablespoons orange juice
  • 1 1/2 cups confectioner's sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Proof yeast in warm water for 10 minutes.Combine with milk, sugar, salt, eggs, butter and enough flour to form a soft dough. Knead for 10 minutes or until dough is smooth. Oil a bowl. Put dough in bowl, turning so that all siudes of the doughy are oiled. Cover with a tea towel and let rise until doubled in bulk. Punch down dough. Roll out to a 12" x 7" rectangle.

Beat together butter, zest, juice and icing sugar. Spread half of this over the dough rectangle. Roll up jelly-roll style and slice into 12 pieces. Place in greased 9-inch round cake pan. Cover; let rise until doubled.

Bake at 375 degrees for 25-30 minutes. While warm, frost with remaining icing. Makes 1 dozen orange rolls.
