Ingredients

  • For Strawberry-Basil Ice:
  • 12 tablespoons water, divided
  • 6 strawberries, diced and divided
  • 12 small basil leaves, divided
  • For Cocktail:
  • 2 strawberries, diced
  • 5 leaves basil
  • dash of simple syrup
  • dash of lime juice
  • 1 3/4 ounces vodka
  • regular ice

Preparation

Step 1

To Make Strawberry-Basil Ice:
Divide 12 tablespoons water among 12 compartments of a large ice cube tray, then freeze. Divide 6 strawberries, diced, and 12 small basil leaves among the same 12 compartments. Add water to cover and freeze again.

To Make cocktail:
In the bottom of a cocktail shaker, muddle strawberries, basil, simple syrup and lime juice. Add vodka and regular ice. Shake, then strain over three strawberry-basil ice cubes in a rocks glass.
