OLD FASHIONED PEACH CRISP

By

*Yes, this recipe will work for apples, too. Adjust spices to suit yourself. As for the salt in this recipe, I never use it

Ingredients

  • 4 lbs. fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 2 cups old fashioned oats
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 cup butter, cold and cut into cubes
  • 4 Tbsp. white sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 375F degrees.

In a 9 x 13 inch baking dish, combine the peaches, 1/2 cup flour, 3/4 cup sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg and stir gently.
In your stand mixer or with a pastry blender, combine the 1 1/2 cups of flour, the butter, the 4 Tbsp. of white sugar, the 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/2 tsp. of salt.
Mix until it looks like coarse meal.
Add the oatmeal and squeeze it into the other mixture to make large clumps.
When well combined, drop the clumps over the peaches and break it up a bit as you drop it.
Cover the peaches evenly.
Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the peaches are bubbly.
Let cool 10 minutes and serve warm with a scoop of your favorite vanilla ice cream on top!
