  • 4 cups thinly sliced Granny Smith or Golden Delicious apples (or mixed)
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 t. ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 t. ground nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter
  • Additional cinnamon and nutmeg for sprinkling on top of apples before baking



Step 1

Preheat oven to 375. Lightly grease a 9 inch pie plate.
Mound apples slices in the pie plate (it will be overflowing). Sprinkle with orange juice, extra cinnamon and nutmeg.

In a medium bowl, mix the flour, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Scatter over the apples.

Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
