Beef Brisket in Barbecue Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 beef brisket, about 3 lbs
  • 1 1 /4 cups water
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 2 tbs minced garlic
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 3 tbs vinegar
  • 2 tbs fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tbs brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tbs sweet and tangy steak sauce
  • 2 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 tsp liquid smoke

Preparation

Step 1

Place brisket in large pot with 1/2 cup water. Cover and bake at 325° for 1 1/2 hours.
While the brisket is baking, saute the onions and garlic, add ketchup and next eight ingredients and remaining water. Simmer for about 10 minutes, then add liquid smoke. Set aside.
After the 1 1/2 hours remove brisket from the oven, drain, pour sauce over brisket, cover and bake another 1 1/2 hours. Leave a little juice in the pan!
