Caramel Frosting

Recipe for caramel frosting that my grandmother used to make. This is very yummy when spread over a chocolate cake.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup canned evaporated milk
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (heaping)
  • 1 cap full of vanilla
  • 1 box powdered sugar (1 lb)

Preparation

Step 1

1) Mix butter, evaporated milk, brown sugar and vanilla in a sauce pan and cook over medium-high heat until it reaches a rolling boil.

2) Mix in powdered sugar until all lumps are gone and frosting is smooth.

3) Pour over cake and spread while warm (frosting will set quickly).
