Alma's Sweet & Spicy Buffalo Wings

By

One of my favorite all time meals. My Grandma used to make these for us as a special treat. I found two different versions of this recipe in our collection... it looks like the second version was modified to make a milder version of the sauce.

Ingredients

  • Sauce:
  • 10 lbs. chicken wings
  • Salt
  • Accent Seasoning
  • 1/2 lb butter
  • 7 oz Kona Coast BBQ Sauce (half a jar)
  • 12 oz Bruce's Louisiana Hot Sauce
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • or for a milder sauce:
  • 1/2 lb butter
  • 7 oz Kona Coast BBQ Sauce (half a jar)
  • 6 oz Bruce's Louisiana Hot Sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar

Preparation

Step 1

1) Wash chicken wings, pat them dry and sprinkle with salt and Accent.

2) Begin frying chicken wings in deep fryer. The wings will need to be fried in several batches, for 12-15 minutes per batch until crispy.

3) For the sauce, combine butter, BBQ Sauce, hot sauce, and brown sugar in a sauce pan. Cook on medium until sauce begins to bubble.

4) Once the first batch of wings are done frying, coat them thoroughly in sauce and place them on a large cake pan (or cookie sheet). Cover with aluminum foil and place in oven at around 350° to keep them warm while preparing the rest of the wings.

5) Repeat step 4 until all of the wings have been cooked and coated.
