Dee Dee’s Old Fashioned Crumb Topped Apple Pie

Ingredients

  • Filling for a single 9-inch crust:
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8-teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/8-teaspoon salt
  • 4 1/2 cups peeled & thinly sliced gala apples (5-6 med)
  • Crumb topping:
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3-cup butter or margarine (softened)
  • 1/2 cup quick-cooking oats

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat over to 375. Place pastry in 9-inch piecrust
In a large bowl mix all the ingredients together for the filling.
Spoon apple mixture into the piecrust .Mix all the ingredients together for the crumb topping. Cover the edges of the crust with foil. Bake for 25 min. after 25 mins please remove all foil. And bake for 20-25 mins more Cool on rack

Add ¼ cup of almond to the crumb mixture
