One Pot Melt in Your Mouth Waffles with Buttermilk Syrup

Ingredients

  • Buttermilk Syrup:
  • 3/4 C All Purpose Flour
  • 1/4 C Corn Starch
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp table salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1 C buttermilk
  • 1/3 C vegetable oil
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 C butter
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Whisk together dry ingredients and add wet ingredients. Whisk until well combined and no dry spots remain. Let rest for 30 minutes- batter will be thin.

Cook until golden brown per your waffle maker directions.

For the buttermilk syrup:

Use a pot much bigger than you think you’ll need because it will bubble up and make a huge mess if it’s not big enough.
Combine buttermilk, sugar and butter in a large pot and bring to boil. Boil for 1 minute and remove from heat.
Stir in baking soda and vanilla , stirring constantly until it stops foaming up (this is where it could potentially make a mess)
