Creamy Buttercream Frosting

Ingredients

  • 1 cups shortening
  • 1 cup softened butter
  • 8 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 teaspoons clear imitation vanilla extract
  • 6 fluid ounces heavy cream
  • variation: add crushed chocolate chips and/or 1/4 approx. Hershey's Dark Cocoa Powder

Preparation

Step 1

Cream shortening and butter until fluffy. Add confectioner's sugar and continue creaming until well blended.

(variation- add cocoa powder with confectioners' sugar)

Add salt, vanilla, and whipping cream blend on low speed until moistened. Add additional whipping cream if necessary (up to 2 ounces). Beat at high speed until frosting is fluffy.
(variation- add crushed chocolate chips towards the end of beating)
