Ingredients
- 2 cups oatmeal; quick cooking
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup Sugar
- 1 cup Shortening; can use oil
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1-1/2 cups chocolate chips or M&Ms or see below
Preparation
Step 1
Combine oatmeal, flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt and set aside.
Cream shortening with sugars. Add eggs and vanilla. Add dry ingredients and
blend until combined.
Fold in 1-1/2 cups of any of the following:
Chocolate chips, M&Ms, raisins (put in boiling water first to plump),
dates, gumdrops, coconut, or peanuts (if using peanuts, omit salt).
Bake 350°F for ten minutes.
