Quick Shrimp & Linguini

By

Bacon, shrimp and sour cream make this a no-fail family pleaser. As one fan says, “This is quick and simple and tastes like you slaved forever.”

Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1/2 lb. extra-large shrimp (16 to 20 count), peeled, deveined
  • 3/4 cup marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 slices bacon, cooked, crumbled
  • 4 oz. refrigerated linguine, cooked, drained

Preparation

Step 1

HEAT oil in large skillet on medium-high heat. Add shrimp; cook 3 to 5 min. or until shrimp turn pink.

REDUCE heat to low; stir in sauce, peas, sour cream and bacon. Cook until heated through, stirring frequently. ADD hot pasta; toss to coat.

Food Facts:
Shrimp come in a variety of sizes. The numbers on the package refer to the number of pieces per pound. Therefore, 16 to 20 ct. means 16 to 20 shrimp per pound.

I substituted broccoli cuts for the peas; won't do that again. Otherwise, delicious.

The sour cream made it a bit too sour.

We love this recipe! I did use more shrimp and bacon than called for, as my husband and son want more meat in their pasta. The sauce is very flavorful and this is the type of recipe that is very easy to customize to respective tastes. I make this regularly, now.

I loved this recipe, it was very good!

My wife and I made this on 2/28/09, with a few adjustments to the listed ingredients. We basically used things we had on hand. So... Instead of extra-large shrimp, we used just large, frozen, already peeled and deveined and cooked. Instead of marinara sauce we used regular tomato sauce. Instead of linguine we used bucatini, which is sort of a fat or thick spaghetti. We had a little cooked in the fridge already, but we also cooked a little more. We couldn't quite understand why it needed to have been refrigerated because we added it to the heated shrimp and sauce mixture anyway, I also thought maybe it could use some garlic; therefore, before "cooking" the shrimp I sauted some jarred chopped garlic. It turned out very well, and we loved it. It was just the right amount for the two of us, and was quick and easy.

Very good and easy. I followed the magazine's healthy living tip and omitted the bacon and substituted milk for the cream. I did think it needed a little more spice/flavor, so next time I'll follow a reader's suggestion of adding red pepper flakes.

Not much taste...would not make this again

I like this recipe very much, have made several times. I use broccoli instead of peas and i have substituted chicken when I have not had shrimp.

This was quite good. I like a lot of sauce with my pasta, so while doubling the recipe to feed four, I increased the spaghetti sauce even more. I used dried linguine instead of fresh. Husband thought the sauce was delicious, and it was so simple.

This is quick and simple and tastes like you slaved forever. Highly recommend it.

Very good. My husband and daughter loved it. It was very quick and easy. The hardest and most time consuming thing is peeling and deviening the shrimp.

Family loved it. Great flavor and aroma without much work.

Added some crushed red pepper for a little kick. Family loved it.

GOOD-but needed more SaUcE!

My dad doesn't like peas so I used squash and zucchini. I added red pepper and onion and garlic in with the shrimp. I also omitted the bacon. Very tasty! I was told that its a keeper!

Next time I'll add extra bacon & some garlic.

Very good! I substituted asparagus for the peas since I had some that needed to be used and it was great! The sauce is so simple, yet so delicious! I doubled the amount because I like to have leftovers. It was good the 2nd time around, too!

I LOVED this recipe! It was delicious. I cooked the shrimp in olive oil and garlic and set them aside. I didn't want them to be rubbery so I added them to the pasta with the bacon at the very end. That is the only change I made to the recipe. I will be making this again very soon! YUMMY!!!!

This was a great and VERY easy recipe. I added lots and lots of pepper and some garlic and chopped up some basil leaves. It was delicious.

Very flavorful. Whole family loved it. Also great for lunch the next day.

My husband and I love seafood and this one is very easy and very tasteful. I made it a few times already!

Was a easy and great recipe, I loved it!

This was absolutely delicious, I omitted the bacon and added snow peas & carrots to the remaining ingredients, this a big hit with the family. This recipe is definitely a keeper!!!

This dish was very easy to make. My family absoultely loved it especially my 4 year old who never eats ANYTHING. I did add seasoning to the shrimp, onion, garlic, black pepper and salt. It came together very nicely. Definately try this!

My husband and I rave about this recipe to everyone.

I made this for my husband and me and then my friends tried it at work and I just doubled it the next time and shared it with everyone. Everyone copied the recipe.

Mmm! Mmm! Mmm! Is literally all I could say! It was sooo good! Try it! You'll LOVE it!

Extremely easy to make. I sauteed onions prior to adding shrimp and added garlic. I also left out the bacon.

My family loved this The only thing I would change is maybe adding some garlic when cooking the shrimp. Thank you

This was SOOO easy and it was SOOO delicious. I added some grated parmesan cheese to the sauce when it was cooking for a touch more flavor, outstanding!
