Ingredients

  • 3

    pints of flour

  • 5

    eggs

  • 1

    C. shortening

  • 1

    pint milk

  • 1

    yeast cake or powdered yeast

  • 2

    tsp. salt

  • 2

    tbsp. sugar

Directions

Beat eggs, add milk. In a separate bowl, cream flour and shortening. Beat all these ingredients together. Dissolve yeast in water and sugar and stir into mixture. Mix well. Let set in a warm place for four hours. Beat down again. Place in a well-greased angel cake pan; let rise one more hour. Bake 45 minutes at 350 degrees. It will look like cake, but is a light bread to be cut into slices and eaten hot at dinner. If any is left over, it is delicious toasted slightly in the toaster oven for breakfast or hot or cold for sandwiches.
