Ingredients

  • Pastry:
  • 2 C melted butter or margarine
  • 4 C flour
  • 1 1/4 C white sugar
  • 2 t salt
  • 2 t baking powder
  • 1 1/3 C milk
  • 1 1/2 T cinnamon
  • Glaze:
  • 1 C powdered sugar
  • 1/2 t vanilla
  • 1/2 T butter
  • 2 T milk

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 425 and grease a flat baking sheet.

Sift together flour, 1 C of the sugar, baking powder, and salt. Then add 1 3/4 C of the melted butter mixing until it becomes dough.

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead about 10 times.

Roll dough out with a rolling pin into a large rectangle. Brush the remaining butter. Sprinkle dough with the remaining sugar and cinnamon.

Roll the dough up into one long roll and slice into 8-10 pieces.

Lay each piece of cut dough on the prepared baking sheet and flatten into a round. Then bake for 8-10 minutes until golden brown. When done baking place each on a cooling rack to cool.

Blend all the glaze ingredients, adding a little more milk or powdered sugar until the right consistency is reached.

Once the pastries are cooled, brush on the glaze and let set.
