FROSTED GINGER PEOPLE

Ingredients

  • Icing:
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup dark molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2-1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • Dash of salt
  • 3 cups sifted powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • Dash of salt

Preparation

Step 1

Cream margarine and sugar until light and fluffy. Blend in molasses and egg. Add combined dry ingredients, mix well. Chill. Roll out dough on lightly floured surface to 1/8" thickness, cut with gingerbread people cutter. Place on greased cooke sheet, bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until edges are very lightly browned. Cool.

Icing:

Combine sugar, milk, vanilla and salt, mix well. Add food coloring, if desired. Frost cookies and decorate with raisins and candies if desired.
