    cup unsweetened Dutch processed cocoa

  • 1/8

    teaspoon salt

  • 1

    teaspoon baking powder

  • 1

cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 1/2

    cups sugar

  • 2

    eggs

  • 2

    teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 2

Tablespoons (one 1-ounce bottle) red food coloring

  • Frosting

  • 3

    cups powdered sugar

  • 1

cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

  • Pinch of salt

  • 1

    teaspoon vanilla

  • Sprinkles for decorating

Directions

For the cookies: 1.Preheat oven to 350F degrees. Spray with a non stick cooking spray a 13×9 pan. 2.In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa, salt, and baking powder. Set aside. 3.In another large bowl, beat together the butter and sugar until light and creamy, about 2-3 minutes Beat in the eggs then vanilla and red food coloring. Gradually beat in the flour mixture until a dough form. 4.Press the dough evenly into the pan. Bake about 20 minutes or until the edges start to pull away and a toothpick comes out of the center with very few crumbs (it may be red because of the coloring). Cool completely. For the frosting: 1.In a large bowl, beat together the butter, powdered sugar, and salt until creamy. Add the vanilla and beat on high until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. Spread onto the cookie bars and decorate with sprinkles.
