CHEESE FILLED SWEET ROLLS

Ingredients

  • Cream Cheese Filling:
  • 1 - 8 oz. container sour cream
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 packages dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 eggs slightly beaten
  • 4 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 - 8 oz. packages cream cheese softened
  • 3/4 cup graunlated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Glaze:
  • 2 cups sifted confectioners sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Scald sour cream, add butter, sugar and salt, mix well. Cool to lukewarm. Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup water. Stir in sour cream mixture, add eggs. Stir in flour gradually. Dough will be soft. Cover. Chill over night. Divide dough into 4 equal parts. Turn each part onto lightly floured pastry cloth. Knead 4 to 5 times. Roll each into 12" x 8" rectangle. Spread 1/4 filling over each rectangle, leaving a 1/2" border. Roll up jelly roll fashion beginning at long side. Pinch edges and ends to seal. Cut each roll into 1-1/2" slices. Place slices cut side down, 2" apart on greased baking sheet. Cover, let rise until doubled in bulk, about 1-1/2 hours. Uncover, bake in 375 degree oven 10-12 minutes. Drizzle glaze over top. Remove from sheets, cool on rack.

Cream Cheese Filling:

Cream cream cheese and sugar together until smooth. Add egg and vanilla and salt and mix until smooth.

Glaze:

Combine confectioners sugar, milk and vanilla and mix until smooth.
