Dark Red Velvet Cupcakes
Delicious Dark Red Velvet Cupcakes. They are dark and have a red tint. If you are looking for a bright cherry red cupcake then this is not the cupcake for you! All of the rich, classic, decadent flavor.
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 4 tbsp. cocoa powder
- .3 oz red food coloring
- 1 tsp. vinegar
- 3 eggs
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 3/4 cup vegetable oil
Preparation time 20mins
Cooking time 40mins
Preheat Oven to 350 Degrees Fahrenheit
Sift Together Flour, sugar, baking powder, cocoa powder, and salt.
Whisk together 3 eggs, buttermilk, vinegar, vanilla, and vegetable oil.
Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Mix just enough to incorporate the entire mixture. Do not over-mix.
Fold in the red food coloring until mixture is the shade of red you desire.
Line a 12 count muffin tin and fill each cup 2/3 up.
Bake for 20-22 minutes, or until fork comes out clean.
