Bread Pudding

Ingredients

  • 10 ounce stale french bread or 6-8 cups any; bread
  • 4 cup milk
  • 2 cup sugar
  • 8 tablespoon Butter; melted
  • 3 egg
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup raisin
  • 1 cup coconut
  • 1 cup pecan nuts; chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg - little less than one teaspoon

Preparation

Step 1

Combine all ingredients. Mixture should be very moist but not soupy -
little pooling of milk around the edges. Pour into buttered 9x12 inch
baking dish. Place into non-preheated oven. Bake at 350°F for approximately
one hour and 15 minutes, until top is golden brown.

Let mixture sit overnight before baking. Freezes well after baking.


Can top with whiskey sauce:
8 tablespoons butter
1-1/2 cup powdered sugar
2 egg yolks
1/2 cup bourbon - or fruit juice or liqueur

Cream butter and sugar over medium heat until all butter is absorbed.
Remove from heat and blend in egg yolk. Pour in bourbon gradually to your
own taste, stirring constantly. Sauce will thicken as it cools. Serve warm
over warm bread pudding.
