San Franisco chops 1 Picture

  • chops:
  • 4 pork chops or pork steaks
  • 1 T vegetable oil
  • 1 clove minced garlic
  • sauce:
  • 2 t vegetable oil
  • 4 T cooking sherry
  • 4 T soy sauce
  • 2 T brown sugar
  • 1/4 t red pepper
  • 2 t cornstarch
  • 2 T water

Step 1

Heat the oil in a skillet and sear chops until golden brown on both sides. Do not over cook or chops will dry out.

Remove chops from skillet and sauté garlic for a minute or so (depending on the chop you may need a little extra oil)

Combine oil, sherry, soy sauce, brown sugar, and red pepper in a bowl.

Return pork to skillet with garlic and pour sauce over them. Cover and simmer over low heat until chops are tender and cooked through about 30-35 minutes depending on the thickness of the pork adding a little water now and again as needed.

Remove pork from skillet and add water and cornstarch to create a thin gravy. Pour the gravy over the chops and serve.
