Mom's Chili

Ingredients

  • 2 lb. ground beef
  • 4 chopped onions
  • 1/2 lb bacon
  • 2 cans mushrooms
  • 2 large cans diced tomatoes or 4 small cans
  • 2 cans tomato paste, 2 cans water
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 cans kidney beans drained & rinsed
  • 5 whole chili peppers crushed

Preparation

Step 1

1. Brown first 3 ingredients in the pot.

2. Sprinkle with chili powder, a little at a time as it cooks.

3. Also sprinkle with celery salt, season salt.

4. I add chopped garlic sometimes.

5. Added remaining ingredients.

6. Make a cloth bag and add 1 tbsp whole peppers, sew the end over and put it in the pot. Take out when cooked.

7. I usually simmer it about 2-3 hours.
