Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Butter
- 2 1/4 cup Flour
- 1 1/2 cup Sugar
- 2 Eggs, unbeaten
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla
- 1/2 cup Red Food Coloring
- 2 tablespoon rounded Cocoa
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 cup Buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon Soda
- 1 tablespoon Vineger
Preparation
Step 1
Cream together butter and sugar. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Add food coloring and Cocoa to the creamed mixture.
Mix together the flour and salt.
Starting and ending with flour, stir in flour mixture and buttermilk into creamed mixture, alternating a little at a time into the mixture.
In another sm. bowl mix soda with vinegar. Hold over batter as it might overflow. Now fold, do not beat the soda into the mixture.
Pour into 2 - 9 inch pans.
Bake 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.
Frost with Waldorf-Astoria Frosting or Cream Cheese Frostin.
