Ingredients

  • Loaf:
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • rind of 1 lemon
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp bakingpowder
  • salt
  • Topping:
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • juice of 1 lemon (or enough to dissolve sugar)

Preparation

Step 1

Loaf:
Line loaf pan with wax paper.
Cream butter and sugar, add remaining ingredients.
Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour
Remove from pan, drizzle topping over.

Topping:
While loaf is baking mix juice and sugar together - enough juice to dissolve sugar.
Pour over loaf as soon as it comes from oven.
About 10 minutes later remove/lift loaf from pan by overhanging wax paper.
