Titan: Apple

I love French food and this is so French. It is a beautiful dessert that can be made with any sliced fruit such as pears, plums, peaches or apples.

Ingredients

  • Caramel
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 apples- cored and sliced into 12 wedges per apple
  • Cake
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking posder

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven 350*
Grease 9" pie plate

Caramel:

In a saucepan cook sugar and water Swirl in pan, but DO NOT STIR until 360* candy thermometer temperature.

Layer apples in pie plate in a pretty design. When caramel reaches temperature, carefully pour over apples immediately.

Cake

In mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar, add eggs, lemon zest, vanilla and sour cream. Sift together dry ingredients and then add to wet ingredients. Don't over mix, but blend together well. Pour mixture over apple caramel mixture and bake at 350* for 30 to 40 minutes until tester comes out clean. As soon as you take it out of the oven wait 5 minutes and carefully invert onto a cakeplate with a small lip. Serve with whipped cream.
