Dumplings and Cabbage: Austrian

This dish is so easy, so good and goes with just about anything.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 3/4 cups water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 8 whole allspice
  • 1 lb head savoy cabbage (sliced thin into shreds)

Preparation

Step 1

Dumplings:

Mix flour, water and salt to form a stiff dough. Pinch dough into boiling water to make dumplings. Boil until they rise to the top. Drain. Set aside.

Next take cabbage, salt, butter and allspice and place in skillet. Saute until cabbage is limp. Add dumplings and cook together for 5 minutes. Can be used as side dish or main course.
