- 1/2 cup butter or margarine (softened)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 375 degrees
Mix butter, sugars and egg together. Add flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and vanilla. Have a small bowl of cold water and a bowl of sugar ready. Roll a teaspoon of dough into a ball with your hands and dip half of it into the water. Dip the wet half in the sugar and put it on a cookie sheet, sugar side up. Flatten it a bit with a fork. The water helps the sugar stick to the cookie. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes.
