Very Very Good White Bread

By

My mom received a Grand Champion on this bread at
the county fair. My kids will only eat this bread. Makes
a 2-pound loaf. (AllRecipes)

MY NOTES: VERY, VERY GOOD BREAD indeed!! I roll the dough out, form it into a loaf and let it rise in my 2-lb Hearth Bread Pan from King Arthur Flour for an hour or so, till doubled in size. I bake it at 375 for 30-45 minutes, tenting with foil after 20 minutes to make sure the crust doesn't get overly brown. It comes out a gorgeous loaf which makes oval slices for sandwiches! Slices beautifully - doesn't crumble.

Ingredients

  • # 1 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • # 3 1/4 cups bread flour
  • # 2 tablespoons dry milk powder
  • # 2 teaspoons salt
  • # 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • # 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • # 1/4 cup instant mashed potato flakes
  • # 1 3/8 cups water

Preparation

Step 1

Place ingredients in the pan of the bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select DOUGH setting. When done, form into a loaf. Let rise till double and bake at 375 degrees for 30-45 minutes.

REVIEWS:

I just made this bread and it is soooooo good! I love the heel slathered with butter when it just comes out - this is just perfect!

This is my favorite recipe!! Wonderful! I haven't used anything else since finding that recipe. I also have been experimenting with wheat flour. It is also good with substituting 1-2 cups of wheat flour for the white. Just want to make sure the dough stays satiny though.
