brownie - Peanut Butter Swirl Brownies 1 Picture

Ingredients

  • 1 c. smooth peanut butter, divided
  • 1 flax egg (1 T. ground flaxseed meal + 2 T. water, mix & let sit 5 minutes)
  • 2/3 c. pure maple syrup
  • 1/4 t. salt
  • 1/2 t. baking soda
  • 1/4 c. cocoa powder

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease an 8×8 in. square baking pan w/ cooking spray.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together ½ c. of the peanut butter and the remaining ingredients until smooth.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
Put the remaining ½ c. of peanut butter into a microwave safe bowl and heat for 10 seconds or until slightly melted.
Place a spoonful of peanut butter evenly at each corner of the pan (about 4 total).
Take a large butter knife and beginning at 1 corner of the pan, begin to make swirls with the peanut butter, creating a chocolate peanut butter mosaic :)
Bake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the brownies comes out clean.
Let cool completely before slicing into even squares.
