Granny's Pinto Beans

No soaking needed. This is best topped with a dollop of Granny's Chili Sauce. Yum!

Ingredients

  • 1 kg bag of dried pinto beans
  • 12-15 cups of water
  • 2 Tbs oil
  • Freshly cracked pepper
  • Salt

Preparation

Step 1

Combine all ingredient (but not the salt). Bring to a boil and simmer slowly for 2 1/2-3 hrs or until the beans are tender. Do not add salt until this point. The beans will not get tender. Add salt to taste. Mash some of the beans to get the sauce thickened as much as you like.
This freezes well.
