Ingredients

    lbs. round steak

  • 1/4

    cup flour

  • 1 1/2

    tsp. salt

  • 1/8

    tsp. pepper

  • 1/4

    cup vegetable shortening

  • 1 1/2

    cups onion

  • 1

    clove garlic, minced

  • 3/4

    tsp. oregano

  • 1 1/4

    cup water

  • 1

    tbsp. soy sauce

  • 1

    cube beef bouillon

  • 1

    tsp. worcestershire sauce

  • 3

    whole green bell peppers

  • 2

    tomatoes, skinned, cut in 8 pieces

Directions

Cut meat in 2" x 2" pieces. Dredge in flour, salt and pepper. Cook over moderate heat in shortening until evenly browned. Add onion, garlic, oregano, water, soy sauce and bouillon cube. Cook over low heat for 1 1/4 hours; add worcestershire and cook for 5 minutes. Thicken gravy if too thin. 10 minutes before - add green pepper; 5 minutes before - add tomatoes. Heat 4 to 5 minutes. Serve over steamed rice.
