Baking Powder Biscuits II
By Addie
"WHEN I was growing up, Mother made these wonderful biscuits often. Some time ago, I consulted her box of old recipes and was delighted to find this childhood favorite. Now these warm and tender biscuits are a special treat for my family, too. -Catherine Yoder, Bertha, Minnesota"

These were the BEST! I used butter flavored shortening and WOW talk about melt in your mouth and sooo super easy to whip up!
This is the biscuit recipe I've been looking for! I got 10 biscuits from the batch & though there are only 2 of us, there are none left. DH just came out of the kitchen with the last 2, a jar of jelly, and a smile on his face. Thank you for the perfect biscuit recipe!
My kids and husband LOVED these biscuits. They were light and tasty. I used only 1 tablespoon of sugar and a bit more salt. Thanks for this great recipe!!
Biscuits so tender they bordered on fragile. I turned the dough over on a floured surface, just 8 times until it would roughly hold together, before patting out the dough, rather than rolling it. I think I would leave out the sugar, unless I was using them for strawberry shortcake (and I think I will!)
This recipe is much better than the one I had been using. It is much lighter and I like the slight sweetness. I didn't have any milk or shortening so I used water and butter instead. Delicious and buttery. Next time I will use milk but keep the butter.
OH MY GOODNESS!!! These are by far the best biscuits I've ever made or eaten!! Thanks so much for the recipe!!

In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, cream of tartar and salt. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
