Tart Cherry Pecan Crisp

Ingredients

  • Topping:
  • 4 cups tart cherries
  • 3 cups pears peeled and diced
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup corn starch
  • 2 tsp. orange zest
  • 1/2 cup corn flakes
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp allspice
  • 1/3 cup butter melted
  • 1 cup pecans roughly chopped

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350F
Drain cherries and reserve juice. In a pot combine cherries and pears.
In a bowl, mix sugar and cornstarch, add to cherries and pears, a long with zest. Bring to a boil, stirring. Pour into 6 cup baking dish.
For topping, combine corn flake crumbs, oats, brown sugar, and spices in a bowl. Stir in melted butter, add pecans, spread over fruit evenly.
Place in baking dish on a cookie sheet and bake for 30 - 35 mins. until edges are bubbly and topping is a rich brown. Cool for 20 mins.
