Ingredients
- 3/4 pound butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 cups flour
- 2 pounds raisins
- 2 pounds currants
- 1 pound figs
- 1/2 pound chopped dates
- 1/2 pound pecan
- 1/2 pound almonds
- 8 ounces black molasses
- 8 ounces coffee
- 8 ounces whiskey
- 2 tablespoons blackberry jam
- 1/2 cup cooked dried apples , sweetened
- 10 eggs
- juice of one orange
- 1 teaspoon allspice
Preparation
Step 1
Beat eggs until very light, cream butter and sugar, add eggs, molasses, coffee, whiskey, flour and spices - beat.
Cut fruits very fine and dredge with 1/2 cup flour then add to cake. Add juice of orange, jam, apples, pecans, and almonds. Sift together and bake at 300 degrees for 1 to 1 1/2 hour.
While hot, pour sweet wine over and let soak in.
