Havarti or Gouda Pinwheels

  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 6 slices Finlandia Havarti or Gouda cheese
  • 4 ounces thinly sliced prosciutto
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten

Preparation

Step 1

Lay out pastry sheet and cut in half, forming 2 rectangles. Place half of the prosciutto on 1 rectangle, leaving ½ inch border along 1 side. Sprinkle half the basil, and layer with half the Finlandia cheese. Brush egg glaze over plain border. Starting at long side opposite border, roll up pastry jelly-roll style. Press gently to seal the edges. Wrap in plastic. Repeat steps with remaining pastry and ingredients. Place pastry logs in refrigerator approximately 2 hours or up to 2 days in advance.
Preheat oven 400 degrees. Line baking sheet with parchment. Cut logs crosswise into ½ inch thick rounds. Place on sheet 1 inch apart. Bake until golden brown, about 16 minutes.
