Ingredients

  • 24 slices of firm white sandwich bread, crust trimmed
  • 1 brick (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • Yolk from 1 large egg
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 stick (1 1/2 cup) butter, melted

Preparation

Step 1

Roll bread slices flat with a rolling pin. Mix cream cheese, egg yolk and 1/4 cup sugar. Spread a scant tablespoon on each slice; roll up tightly.

Mix remaining sugarand cinnamon in a bowl.

Brush rollups (including ends) with butter; roll in sugar mixture to coat. Place on cookie sheet; refrigerate or freeze at leat 2 hours.

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Bake rollups on cookie sheet 9 to 12 minutes until bottoms are glazed and golden brown. Remove immediately to a wire rack to cool. Cut each diagonally in 3 pieces. Eat warm or cold. Makes 72 pieces.
