Texas Chili

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds coarse ground beef
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 large green pepper
  • 1 large yellow onion, diced
  • 1-8 ounce can of tomato sauce
  • 3 heaping tablespoons chili powder
  • 2 tablespoons fresh garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 jalapeno pepper
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon coarse black pepper
  • 6 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 cup flour

Preparation

Step 1

1. Heat the 6 cups water in saucepan

2. In a large pot, heat the olive oil and butter, making sure to stir often. While the meat is cooking, add the onion and bell pepper. Then add the chili powder, cumin, salt, pepper,and garlic. Add the flour, a little at a time nd stir to mix well. Cook 5 minutes. Slowly add water. Lastly, add the tomato sauce and the jalapeno.

3. Reduce heat to medium low and cook uncovered for 2 hours or until meat is very tender.
