Chocolate Cherry Bread

Bread? dessert? Does it matter what you call it when chocolate and cherries co-star in one luscious loaf? This is the best antidote for a midafternoon slump.

Ingredients

• 1 c. milk
• 1 egg
• 3 tbsp water
• 4 tsp margarine or butter
• 1/4 tsp almond extract
• 4 c. bread flour
• 3 tbsp sugar
• 1 tsp salt
• 1 1/4 tsp active dry yeast or bread machine yeast
• 1/2 c. dried cherries, snipped
• 1/2 c. semisweet chocolate pieces, chilled

Preparation

Step 1

2 pound size. Add the ingredients to the machin according to the manufacturer's directions. Select the basic white bread cycle.
