Lasagna with Meat Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1/2 ½ lb. Lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb. Italian sausage, ground
  • 1/2 ½ lb. Ground beef
  • 2 Garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 t Sugar
  • 1 T Salt
  • 1 1/2 1 ½ t Basil
  • 1/2 ½ t Oregano
  • 1/4 ¼ t Pepper
  • 28 oz Diced tomatoes
  • 12 oz Tomato paste
  • 1 Egg, beaten
  • 15 oz Ricotta
  • 2 T Parsley
  • 1/2 ½ t Salt
  • 1 C Olives, sliced
  • 1 lb. Mozzarella, slices or grated
  • 3/4 ¾ C Parmesan, grated

Preparation

Step 1

1. Prepare noodles as directed on package. Reserve in cool water.

2. Cook thoroughly sausage and beef, drain. Add onion, garlic, cook for 5 minutes.

3. Add next seven ingredients, simmer 20 minutes.
4. Combine egg, ricotta, parsley and salt.

5. Layer in lasagna beginning with meat sauce, noodles, meat sauce, ricotta, olives, mozzarella, and parmesan last.

6. Bake covered 375 degrees 25 minutes. Remove cover, bake 25 minutes more. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
