Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
- 1/2 c. chopped onion
- 1/2 c. chopped green onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 1/2 c. water
- 1 (8oz) can tomato sauce
- 1 (6oz) can tomato paste
- 1 1/2 t. Italian seasoning, crushed
- 3/4 t. salt
- 1/2 t. chili powder
- 1/2 t. dried oregano, crushed
- 8 oz. lasagna noodles
- 2 c. cream style cottage cheese
- 6 c. shredded mozzarella cheese
- 3 c. shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 c. ricotta cheese
- 1 c. grated Parmesan cheese
Preparation
Step 1
In a 4 qt. Dutch oven, cook beef, onion, green pepper, and garlic until meat is brown. Drain. Add water, tomato sauce, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, salt, chili powder, and oregano. Simmer for 45 minutes or until sauce is desired consistency, stirring occasionally. Adjust seasonings if necessary.
Preheat oven to 350. In a 15 x 11x2 " baking dish, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce. Layer with half of the noodles, half of the cottage cheese, half of the remaining meat sauce, half of the mozzarella, half of the cheddar, half of the ricotta, and half of the Parmesan. Repeat layering with remaining noodles, meat sauce, cottage cheese, mozzarella, cheddar, ricotta, and Parmesan. Tent foil over the baking dish. Bake for 45 minutes. Let stand for 15 minutes before serving.
