Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp. yeast
  • 1/4 c. warm water
  • 5 c. flour
  • 3 tbsp. sugar
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. margarine
  • 2 c. buttermilk

Preparation

Step 1

Combine yeast in warm water - set aside.
Mix all dry ingredients together. Cut in margarine until crumbly.
Heat buttermilk, stir in yeast mixture.
Mix together, knead just to make dough hold together.
Pat out on floured board and cut with biscuit cutter. Put on parchment-paper lined cookie sheets.
Bake 15 minutes at 400 degrees.

NOTE:
To use as cinnamon buns, pat out to a rectangle, using 1/4 dough at a time. Brush on butter and put on mixture of brown sugar and cinnamon. Roll up from the long side and cut into rolls. Bake as above.
