Ingredients
- 2 T margarine
- ½ cup chopped onion
- 1 ¾ water
- 1 pkg (4. 5 oz) Uncle Ben’s Broccoli rice au gratin
- ¼ cup flour
- ¼ tsp dry mustard
- 1 ¾ cups chicken broth or bouillon
- 2 cups milk
- ½ cups American cheese, shredded
- 1 green onion cut into short, thin strips
Preparation
Step 1
Cook onion in butter in large saucepan till tender.
Add water and contents of rice and seasonings packets; bring to boil; reduce heat, cover and simmer 20 min.
Combine flour and dry mustard in a small bowl. Gradually add about ½ cup broth, stirring until smooth.
Stir in remaining broth, flour mixture and milk into rice mixture. Heat to a simmer, stirring occasionally
Continue simmering until slightly thickened.
Stir in cheese. Sprinkle with green onion
