Siren's Chocolate Cake

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 2 c. buttermilk
  • 2 t. vanilla
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/2 t. salt
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 t. soda
  • 4 squares bittersweet chocolate
  • 1 stick butter

Preparation

Step 1

Beat eggs with buttermilk and add vanilla. Sift dry ingredients and add to egg mixture, then add butter and chocolate which have been melted together in double boiler
Beat thoroughly. Pour into 2 greased 9" cake pans and bake about 30 minutes at 350. Frost with
SIRENS CHOCOLATE ICING:

1 lb. XXX sugar
1/2 c. evaporated milk
2 t. vanilla
4 squares bittersweet chocolate
1 stick butter

Add milk and vanilla to sifted sugar. Melt chocolate and butter together and add to first mixture. If icing is not thick enough to spread nicely, add more sifted powdered sugar.
