Ingredients
- 1 lb. beef cubes
- 1 TBL oil
- 2 cups hot water
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 2 md. carrots, cut
- 1 large potato, cubes
- 1 green pepper cut
- 1 medium celery, cut
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1/2 tsp. browning sauce
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 bay leaf

Step 1
Cook and stir beef in oil in skillet 15 minutes. Add 3 cups hot water, 1/2 tsp. salt & pepper. Heat to boiling, reduce heat. Cover and simmer 2 - 2 1/2 hours. Stir in carrots, potato, bell pepper, celery, onion, browning sauce, 1 tsp. salt, and bay leaf. Cover and simmer 30 minutes. Remove bay leaf. Prepare dumplings. shake 1/2 cup cold water & 2TBL flour in tightly covered container gradually stir into stew. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil and stir 1 minute, reduce heat. Drop dumpling dough by 10-12 spoonful into hot stew. Cook uncovered 10 minutes. Cover and cook 10 minutes.
